About Color

Did you know that not all diamonds are Clear White?

Many people think that all diamonds are the same, but there are actually many different colors that the gemstones come in. In fact, loose diamonds can be found in a rainbow of colors. Of course, when it comes to choosing stones for fine jewelry, then the preferred color is white. However, some types of vintage style jewelry will include yellow diamonds. or Fancy Brown Diamonds Before you begin shopping for the perfect loose diamonds, you will need to know all about diamond color. By learning about color, you can better choose the right stone for the jewelry you are considering.

The first thing to keep in mind is that the loose diamonds will be rated on a color scale system that ranges from D to Z. Some of the scale levels will be so subtle that you may never notice the difference. If you are looking for ways to save money, then choosing a diamond that is a step down or two on the scale will be a good way to cut costs without sacrificing much of the beauty.

It is a good idea to understand the scale a little better so that you can more easily shop for loose diamonds. The color scale will work as follows: If you want the most colorless loose diamonds (and the most expensive), then you will want to ask for colors of D, E, and F. If you prefer a Near Colorless Diamond and a step down in price, then you will want to look for colors in the range of G, H, I. The color letters of J, K, L, and M will have a very Faint Yellow Hue. However, it will be too faint for an untrained eye to see. The letters of N, O, P, Q and R will be a light yellow diamond and you may start to notice the color a little. Finally, the most yellow diamond and the most obvious will be the letters of S, T, U, V, W, X, Y and Z. These lower letters of the alphabet will be lowest in cost, but they may not have the color that you want for your diamonds.

Shopping for loose diamonds can be confusing when you start considering everything that you need to look for. By understanding everything about color, you can match a level that fits well in your budget and has the look that you most want in the Diamond gem.
